Chairman of Sector 4 Community Police Forum, Takis Michalakis; MMC for Public Safety, Michael Sun; Anton van Niekerk, vice chairman of CPF Sector 4; Midrand Police Station commander, Brigadier David Tsotsotso; and Lieutenant Colonel David Mahloromela (VisPol head).

Sector 4 Community Policing Forum held its annual general meeting on 9 May at Beaulieu College in Midrand.

The meeting was led by the chairman of the forum, Takis Michalakis, and among the attendees were Metro police members, Midrand Police Station commander Brigadier David Tsotsotso, MMC for Public Safety in the City of Joburg Michael Sun and members of the community.

Michalakis explained the challenges the sector faced in last year and what the forum had done to meet these challenges.

“A shortage of members to assist with the functions of the forum was being addressed through a membership drive and additional patrols with the police are now being conducted and these are having a positive effect,” said Michalakis.

Tsotsotso outlined his strategy to make Midrand more effective in the fight against crime and outlined various plans of re-allocating and re-prioritising resources to make the police force members more effective in serving the Midrand community.

Sun spoke about how important it was for individuals to work together to ensure a functional and safe living environment and requested that all individuals communicate with law enforcement groups to bring crime under control.
