Bakgotsi Social Club gives back

The Bakgotsi Social Club hosted the Bakgotsi Charity Golf Day at the Kyalami Country Club on 24 August.

The event is held once every two years and on the past three occasions, it has been held at the same venue.

Twenty-five men from Tembisa started the Bakgotsi Social Club in 1989 which continues to support disadvantaged children at the Tembisa Secondary School.

“For the past ten years, the club has been sponsoring a minimum of 10 pupils per year but are now supporting about 50 pupils in the school,” said John Mngadi, one of the founders of Bakgotsi Social Club.

“The club believes that education is critical to a child’s future and no child deserves any less.”

The 50 youngsters are assisted mainly with uniforms and their school fees among other things.

“All the founding members lived and grew up in Tembisa but now we are old men therefore when we started the club we wanted to give back to the same community that raised us up.
